FOLEY WINES ANNOUNCES ALASTAIR MALING TO FINISH
AS GROUP CHIEF WINEMAKER
Foley Wines announce that from June 30, 2021, Alastair Maling MW will finish as Group

consultancy role working alongside the winemaking teams at Te Kairanga, Martinborough
Vineyard, Grove Mill, Vavasour and Mt Difficulty to further drive wine quality and
reputation across all price points and brands.
Alastair Maling MW said, “This is a direction I have considered for some time and coincides
with a directional shift by Foley Wines to base a dedicated senior viticultural person in
Marlborough.
It has been a pleasure to work with such a talented group of winemakers and viticulturalists
and I take great pride in seeing the Foley Wine portfolio develop in both wine quality and
brand value. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a team and, I know that the
team will continue to grow and develop in the years ahead.”
Mark Turnbull CEO said, “Alastair has made a considerable impact on our business over his
past six years with the company. He has been the driving force behind our purpose of making
great wines that people love to drink around the world. The team has all learned a great deal
from Alastair and moving forward we will continue to work closely with Alastair in his
consulting role.”

finished working at Villa Maria (and prior to that Oyster Bay) to establish his own business.
Mark Turnbull CEO said, “We are delighted that Stu has decided to join our team in a
consulting role, both of our Marlborough and Martinborough teams are looking forward to
working closely with him. We have made significant gains in terms of markets, through the
quality of both our viticulture and wine making. Stu will be instrumental in further
progressing the viticulture programme of the business.”
Stuart Dudley said, “I am really looking forward to working with the viticulture team at
Foley Wines, it presents a great opportunity for me to be involved with some great vineyards
and people all working towards improving performance across the board.”
Finally, Foley Wines is very pleased to have received the second stage building consent for
their Martinborough development at Te Kairanga, with Holmes Construction being awarded
the contract. Construction is expected to start in the next few weeks, the new barrel facility
was recently completed in time for the 2021 vintage. The restaurant and cellar door are
