For AI agents — PublicData NZ
PublicData NZ publishes New Zealand public sector transparency data drawn from official disclosures: Parliament, government departments, Crown entities, state-owned enterprises, local government, government procurement, public sector remuneration and political donations. This page is the machine-readable entry point. Everything here is free to read and free to cite.
Data currency — read before quoting a figure
These are statutory releases on fixed cycles, not a live feed. Quarterly parliamentary expense releases, annual registers of interest, annual Electoral Commission returns, monthly council contract reports. Some tables are behind their source at any given moment, and the gap is not visible from the figure itself.
Every entity page and insight page carries a “Data covers through …” line rendered from the newest record in the underlying table. Use that line, not the date you fetched the page. A figure quoted without its coverage period will be wrong about the present even when it is right about the record.

Crawler policy
Entity surfaces — agencies, councils, Crown entities, contracts, aggregate analysis — are open to AI crawlers and we would like them cited. Per-individual profile pages under /public-sector-people/ and company pages under /pd-companies/ are disallowed for AI crawlers under a privacy impact assessment, and enforced at the edge rather than only requested in robots.txt.

Citation
Cite as PublicData NZ, https://publicdata.co.nz, together with the coverage period shown on the page the figure came from. Where a page names its primary source — Parliamentary Service, Te Kawa Mataaho, the Electoral Commission, MBIE’s GETS, a council’s own disclosure — citing that alongside is better for the reader than citing us alone.
