NZX Announcement: Booster Innovation Fund – Partnership Expansion with Leading New Zealand
Universities
Booster Innovation Fund (BIF) is pleased to provide an update on the continued growth of its strategic
partnerships with New Zealand’s leading universities, further strengthening the Fund’s position as a key
early stage venture investor in local science and innovation.
Since 2018, BIF has partnered with Wellington UniVentures Ltd, the technology transfer office of Victoria
University of Wellington, providing BIF with the opportunity to invest into university spin-out businesses
at the earliest stages of their commercial journey. In 2021, this partnership expanded to include Otago
Innovation Ltd, the technology transfer office of University of Otago, and, more recently, Booster is
delighted that the partnership has expanded to include Auckland UniServices Ltd, representing University
of Auckland, who also joined as a Limited Partner with NZ Innovation Booster, our dedicated university
partnership fund.
These important partnerships strengthen BIF’s access to high-potential technology and science ventures
emerging from New Zealand’s university sector, as the three university partners represent approximately
60% of the total research spending by New Zealand universities. Through these partnerships, BIF
continues to demonstrate how a combination of deep investment experience, sector knowledge, and
strong co-investor relationships can accelerate the success of innovative businesses in New Zealand.
BIF remains committed to fostering the next generation of scientific and technological enterprises and
looks forward to sharing further portfolio progress in due course.
Investors can continue to purchase units in BIF on the NZX or can subscribe for units in the fund as part of
the process described in the fund’s Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) that is available at
