Whiti Whiti is a programme that enables the training of forklift operators through VR Forklift Simulators, technology and training that is supported by employers in its application in the workplace. The simulators train people as forklift operators to a level of competence at a speed and low cost not possible by current methods. The programme will see at least 80 participants (targeting Māori and Pasifica) go through forklift competency training with at least 72 placed directly into employment (horticulture and logistics). The target cohorts for this programme are displaced workers from other industries due to Covid-19, or other suitable people wanting to enter the workforce and gain sustainable employment pathways.
