To Ake Arā Tātou (Your Way, Our Way, Onwards)

The Tō Ake Ara Tatou programme will support up to 48 rangatahi over two years in the Horowhenua through delivering a Whānau-centric Te Ao Maori Framework “Muaūpoko style” service. The focus of the programme is on strengthening and reinforcing protective factors (whānau connection, cultural belonging through Whakapapa, Te Reo, Marae and Wananga, and support networks) while addressing risk factors (discrimination, cultural and social exclusion, lack of resource, and poor self-esteem). Each individual in the programme will have a customised experience to meet their needs, with tailored experiences that could involve volunteering, work experience, helping out in the environment (Taio), cultural activities, serving kaumatua, apprenticeship or study support, budgeting and more.
